The Full Story

Crustworthy is a contemporary mobile eatery founded by a husband and wife team, Nathan and Elana, with 30 years of combined experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Crustworthy serves wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, featuring the classics and delightful scratch-baked desserts and soft serve ice cream to the vibrant and recovering community.

This venture emerged from a challenging situation, as they relocated to Asheville just three months before Hurricane Helene struck the area, leading to job losses for both of them. led by their love for this city and looking to bring some joy to their neighbors, they began selling Neapolitan pizzas from their home to their neighborhood. Initially uncertain about whether anyone would come to a stranger's house, they prepared 45 pizzas and enlisted a friend's help. Nathan set up an outdoor kitchen with tarps to shield them from the wind, and within an hour of opening, their home was bustling with community members, resulting in a sellout of all 45 pizzas and 48 cookies baked by Elana.

The overwhelming response to Crustworthy has solidified their commitment to realizing this dream in North Carolina. Focusing on all "Classic" New York pizza flavors is a nod to both of their upbringings. Nate grew up in the Hudson valley of New York and ventured into the city with friends on the weekend, exploring new food. Elana grew up in Southern California and her family is from New York and she travelled there often as a child and has many fond memories of all the pizzerias in the city. Their goal is to do the classics the right way- the way the best pizzerias in New York do it, pulling inspiration from icons like Prince Street Pizza, Rose's Pizza in Penn Station and Raimo's Pizza on Long Island(Elana's family's spot).
